Money Service Operators (MSO) License

 

Why you may need an MSO License

 

Any person or business that operates a money service without an MSO License commits a criminal offence.

A money service includes (1) Money Changing Service and (2) Remittance Service (see below). ​​

You will probably need an MSO License if your business does any of the following as a service:

  • exchange of HKD for foreign currencies (e.g., USD, EUR, JPY, AED, AUD) at any physical locations in HK​​​​

​

  • online / mobile platform facilitating the exchange of any currencies
